Melinda Braathen, September 1-27, 2007
Dear friends,
Leif Magne Tangens is happy to present the young painter Melinda Braathen.
This will be her first presentation in Norway, and consists of several new
medium- and large-scale paintings from this year.
Melinda Braathen´s high-key abstract paintings investigate
energy, experimentation and form. Her work is highly process-
oriented and intuitive. Energy is created through the play of
color relationships. Each applied brush stroke, with its varying
temperatures, viscosities and materiality, alter the unfolding
event. Colors clash, which allows moments of constriction,
manipulation and essentially, the transformation of the space.
Harmonies surface from seemingly discordant energies.
Melinda experiments with each emerging relationship until
a dynamic yet congruent composition is discovered.
Melinda was born in Seattle. She is a painter living and working in Berlin.
We look forward to seeing you for the opening, September 1, 18-20.
