Ethan Hayes-Chute
"Wood n' stuff"
November 10 -13, 2007

Dear Friends,

Leif Magne Tangens is pleased to present a new solo project by American artist Ethan Hayes-Chute.

To prepare for the exhibition, the artist spent the
first day of the 5-day project collecting wood and
other detritus from the area around the gallery.
Travelling only on foot and selecting only items
he could carry on his own, the debris was brought
into the gallery and divided into two sections,
one with items discovered before noon, the other with
items found after noon.

Hanging on the otherwise bare walls are two small paintings,
themselves images of abandoned wood and junk in an isolated space. The
piles of now-rediscovered stuff partially inhibit the viewing of these
paintings, much as the objects in the piles obscure each other- just
as a painting obscures the wall behind it.
The two piles of waste will remain in the gallery for the duration of
the exhibition, and upon it's conclusion they will be returned to the
wild from whence they came.

Ethan Hayes-Chute is a painter, sculptor and book maker who lives in Berlin, Germany.

The exhibition can be visited until November 14th by appointment.
For more information about the artist see www.ethanhc.com or call the gallery at +47 916 56 960.
